Spring Auctions Showcase Part 7: Spring Colors

When it comes to current trends in color, the auction houses are delivering jewelry that is right in line with the most fashionable spring colors.

One color nearly synonymous with spring is lavender, and a recent auction at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong featured a lovely lavender jadeite ring and ear clip set.  On each piece, a jadeite cabochon of intense lavender is surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds and mounted in 18K white gold. The three pieces had an estimated value of $115,938 to $154,584 and sold for $144,278 on April 8.

Also at the April 8 Hong Kong auction, Sotheby’s sold a necklace in yet another popular spring color: soft pink. A pink conch pearl dangles from the end of the pendant. It is complemented by four pinkish-brown diamonds together weighing 1.55 carats and spaced by circular-cut diamonds mounted in 18K white gold. The necklace sold for $88,563, over its estimated value of $70,851 to $83,733.
